An antique French Saint-Uze teapot likely dating to the late 19th century. The high-fired grès-cérame body features a brilliant ivory glaze adorned with the unmistakable cobalt blue floral garlands typical of Saint-Uze production. Starting in the 19th century, the small village of Saint-Uze in the Drôme region became known for producing highly durable stoneware that was used in homes throughout France. Thanks to their dense, vitrified body, Saint-Uze ceramics were prized for their strength and longevity. This teapot is solid, well-proportioned and still beautifully intact over a century later, a true testament to that durability.
